Job Overview
Qualifications
In this role, the Design Release Engineer will be specifically responsible for the design and release of Engine Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) systems and components. Specifically, the FEAD Design Release Engineer is responsible for the product design from concept to launch, components / system packaging, releasing 2D drawings and 3D models, performance specifications, and product issue resolution. This position requires interaction with engine calibrators, test labs, suppliers, the quality organization, manufacturing plants, and Purchasing. Furthermore, the FEAD Design Release Engineer is responsible for all facets of assigned components including (but not limited to) Sourcing Packages, Design Validation, Release, Supplier signoff, cost/weight/ investment targets and warranty. The FEAD Design Release Engineer will develop and carry out FMEA’s and DVP&R’s to ensure that functional objectives and durability goals are met. Additionally, as the FEAD team is on the forefront of designing systems for mild hybrid applications, the Design Release Engineer will also regularly interface with the Electrified Powertrain team, to help ascertain and understand functional requirements for mild hybrid applications, to ensure the FEAD system meets those functional objectives, as well as those of the FEAD system itself.
Basic Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program or equivalent program
  • Minimum of 1 year of Design Releasing experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and/or G Suite
  • Experience in the following: Metal Stampings and/or castings, plastic components
  • Experience with NX CAD software
Preferred Qualifications: 
 
  • Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Applied Physics from an ABET accredited program or equivalent program
  • Prior Front End Accessory Drive design experience
  • Proficiency and use of SimDrive modeling software
  • Strong leadership skills
