The FCA Quality Organization is currently seeking a Corporate Quality – Field Engineer to join our Quality Organization based at an FCA dealership, primarily in the Los Angeles, CA area. This position offers the selected candidate an opportunity to be an integral part of a company whose focus is to change the automotive landscape. The Field Engineering professional is responsible for the identification of quality issues and will assist in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for customer satisfaction issues relating to all vehicle systems. The Engineer will be based within a retail dealer service department.
Job responsibilities for the Engineer include but not limited to investigating and objectively documenting quality issue problem with customer vehicles and objectively report findings through electronic systems and provide root cause analysis, technical data, and other information to support actionable format for problem resolution. The Engineer’s documentation process will include the use of various test/measurement equipment and video imaging (camera/audio, etc.) to support problem-issue-findings. The Engineer must be capable of hands-on work including, but not limited to: vehicle system tear-down, diagnostics, and automotive systems and must also be familiar and comfortable with the dealer environment, especially dealer service areas.
Basic Qualifications:

  •  Bachelors of Science in Engineering, or a related technical degree (Business Technical dual degree would be okay; i.e. major in BA with a minor in     Automotive/Heavy Equipment Technology, or Engineering Technology)
  •  Minimum 5 years of related experience
  •  Minimum 2 years in a technical field preferably automotive service, or automotive quality
  •  Hands-on automotive service experience
  •  Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal with a variety of people at all levels of the organization
  •  Ability to collect and synthesize data into meaningful information, and communicate clearly to all levels of the organization
  •  Self-directed and team oriented with demonstrated planning/problem-solving skills
  •  Experience and working knowledge of computer systems, and software required
  •  Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
  •  Experience with test and measurement equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Automotive dealer experience
  •  Hands-on automotive service experience
  •  Able to work independently
  •  Assertive and ambitious nature
  •  Results oriented
  •  Motivated to learn new principles and ideas, and have excitement in applying these new principles
  •  Motivated to make a positive impact in the work environment and on the quality of the products produced
