Job description


The Steering System Specialist will operate within the Steering Department, which has the primary objective to define and develop best technical solution for steering system that will be applied in Alfa Romeo and Maserati projects. This may also include enhancements to existing solution from performances or quality point of view.


For this role we are looking for an engineer who will support the team specifically for:


  • ensure the proper performances associated with brand attitude for “drive to fun” and quality target

  • ensure development of the component in according to project milestones and corresponding component maturity in terms of mechanical, electronic and software contents.

  • Participate in an inter-functional group to develop Functional Safety analysis of REPS


The candidate must have the desire to learn new processes and technologies especially related new contents or feature (for example ADAS functionality integration within Steering System software or component).


He/she will be responsible for the design and validation of chassis steering systems under his/her responsibility. The position will include all aspects of the component’s design to ensure all system and vehicle level functional objectives are met and also performing the component and system level validation testing.



Main activities


Job responsibilities include but not limited to:


  • Managing overall release of the components including the bill of material, CAD drawings, design verification plan, and physical testing

  • Management of suppliers, issuing engineering change notices, reviewing/approving FMEAs, DVP&Rs, vehicle build support, issue resolution and PPAP





  • Bachelor in Engineering (preferably in automotive, mechanical, mechatronic or naval engineering)

  • +2 years of experience in automotive industries specifically related to the design of chassis components

  • Experience with the design, validation and manufacturing of stamped steel components, welded assemblies, and castings

  • Good knowledge of steering functionalities and its impact on vehicle dynamics and drive-ability

  • Project Management skills and tools usage (for example: MS Project)

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and be able to perform job responsibilities with little supervision

  • Fluency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Logical thinker who can sort through complex problems in pursuit of a resolution

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.) and GSuite

  • 0-20% travel, domestic and international

  • Organizational skills

  • Flexibility/Speed
