Qualifications
The Systems Cost Engineer (SCE) is responsible for establishing piece (variable) costs for components and assemblies. Working from a bill of materials (BOM), drawings and/or samples, the individual must be able to develop technical cost for components and assemblies using process driven cost tools. The SCE is responsible for establishing variable (piece cost) cost targets using directional, historical and bottoms up cost models. Component cost responsibility is to be maintained throughout program life (from the setting of concept target cost, analysis during new business placement and collaboration of all design change costs).
The System Cost Engineer will provide subject matter expertise to support engineering during the design phase and purchasing during the placement of new business. Cost collaboration with suppliers and purchasing department required. The System Cost Engineer will analyze supplier quotes and collaborate on piece and tooling costs for design changes. The selected individual must have an understanding of cost drivers for various manufacturing processes typical for production of electrical assemblies. Local travel may be required to review suppliers manufacturing plant layout and processes in support of the creation of “should” cost models (< 5%). The primary assigned component responsibility will be radars, cameras, sensors in support of autonomous driving technology.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Finance (or equivalent degree)
  • 5 years of automotive experience (OEM or supplier)
  • 5 years of experience with electrical or electronic devices and/or modules
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university
  • Experience in activity based costing and/or quoting desired
  • General proficiency in NX and Teamcenter
  • Strong negotiation skills
